Graduation of special needs students from Rashid Centre
Fifth year in succession Villa Rotana was able to provide a group of special needs students from Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre an opportunity to receive work training. A first-of-its-kind humanitarian project initiated in the UAE in 2009, was launched with an aim to open the door to specialized training of special needs students. Each year, the project receives, between three and six Rashid Centre students selected by the Centre’s management to receive eight to ten months of training under the supervision of the Centre’s social assistance cell and the human resource department of the hotels.
Centro Sharjah supports special needs centre
Centro Sharjah by Rotana is once again supporting Manzil, a centre for children with special needs, with two students set to participate in its Summer Training Programme. The corporate social responsibility initiative will see the students trained in different departments of the hotel, including finance, events, marketing and F&B, for four hours once a week during the summer.With the workforce of approximately 160 colleagues in the hotel, the intensive training that will be given to the students with special needs of Manzil Centre aims to empower them, help them understand their values and learn to work alone.

Step by step we make our way to a greener planet.With no pesticides and chemical fertilizers used in the farming process, Fujairah Rotana harvested fresh green organic vegetables ranging from eggplant, big green chillies and tomatoes, the first harvest weighed around 9kg, looking forward for a a next green season.
A Glimpse of My Dream
Centro Barsha Team launched the “A Glimpse of My Dream” activity, a two-week campaign where the kitchen team went to the bakery workshop section of Al Noor School and taught the children and their teachers how to enhance their pastry items. On the 2nd week of the activity, the children got the chance to visit the Centro Barsha kitchen and get a glimpse of how does it feel to be real junior chefs for a day. The smile and the joy on their faces as they put on the chef uniform were evident on them. The activity aimed to provide children with special needs a chance of experiential learning, allowing them to feel that they are no different from anyone else in this world.
World Environment Day
On this year’s occasion of World Environment Day, Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana took an initiative by encouraging Head of the Departments to take small practical steps and raise awareness towards a positive environmental action. World Environment Day highlighted what colleagues can do to implement food waste reduction initiatives, paper and water usage, and several more changes. Head of Departments joined for an exciting and fun-filled morning of “treasure hunt” activities that involved and were related to environmental topics and issues taking place on a daily basis.
Global Wind Day
It is a day when wind energy is celebrated, information is exchanged and adults and children find out about wind energy, its power and the possibilities it holds to change the world. Al Ain Rotana celebrated the Global Wind Day with its colleagues on the top of Jabal Hafeet, the second highest peak in the UAE. The Environment, Health and Safety Department of Al Ain Rotana organised an outing for colleagues along with the Colleague Welfare Committee.
The Upcycled Collection
Centro Capital Centre collaborated with the Philippine Charity Fund (PCF) for ‘The Upcycled Collection’. The PCF is a charitable organisation registered in the United Kingdom which works with communities who live in extreme crisis situations in the depressed areas of the Philippines. With 'The Upcycled Collection', Centro Capital Centre raised funds to provide shelter, food and clothing to children rescued from living on dump sites through the sale of handicrafts produced from plastic bags and ring pull tabs.
Let’s Brunch in collaboration with Lebanese Food Bank
Gefinor Rotana reintroduced brunch on September 28, 2014 at the Olive Garden Restaurant & Terrace in collaboration with the non-profit organization Lebanese Food Bank as a contribution to eliminate hunger. Gefinor Rotana strongly believes in human rights and working towards a better tomorrow, therefore, two dollars per person will be donated from the brunch’s bill. This one-year collaboration falls under Rotana’s social and humanitarian initiative to implement a wide range of activities to help the Lebanese society with no compromise on quality or service. During the event and as part of many entertaining activities, chef Chady Zeitouny, Ambassador for the Lebanese Food Bank, prepared succulent and mouthwatering dishes. Various competitions were also active on the hotels official Instagram page with valuable prizes to win and giveaways were distributed to all the attendees as an appreciation for their support.
Breast Cancer Awareness
Centro Capital Centre, in collaboration with Burjeel Hospital, has hosted an educational awareness session about Breast Cancer and its early detection. The Breast Cancer Awareness session aims to generate awareness about the importance of regular breast screening as a key preventive measure against breast cancer. The awareness session, which was attended by Centro’s female colleague members and Ewa'a Shelters for women and children employees focused on the importance of breast cancer awareness, educating them on proper examination methods and key indicators for them to look out for. After the awareness session, all the attendees participated in a Q&A session with a medical expert from Burjeel Hospital in order to respond to all their questions about breast cancer awareness, detection or treatment.
Children's Day at The Cove Rotana Resort
On the occasion of Universal Children’s Day on 20th November 2014, The Cove Rotana Resort organized a range of innovative and fun filled activities for students of Ras Al Khaimah Academy. The students enjoyed a warm and friendly welcome by the Cove Team highlighted with exciting educational games, face painting and competitions on the beautiful pristine white sandy beach with breath taking view of the Arabian Gulf. The students were divided into teams and joined by the volunteers in various group activities such as sand castle building, beach football, collecting seashells and pebbles, etc. The winning teams were rewarded with prizes.
Rotana supports Harmony House
Harmony House is one of the organisations that Rotana supports as part of its Corporate Sustainability Platform, Rotana Earth, comprising of strategic sustainability goals that commit to the economy, the environment and society. Harmony House is an organisation that is dedicated to improving the lives of children on a physical, emotional and intellectual level and aims to give enriching experiences to children. Since Harmony House relies 100% on donations and contributions, it holds an annual festive event together with the UAE-based Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery. This year’s event was held at both of the Home Grown Children’s Eco Nurseries on Tuesday 9th December and Wednesday 10th December consecutively.
