CHOOSE TO REUSE Annually our hotels generate many tonnes of discarded linen and bed sheets. In 2016, a programme was developed in collaboration with Ecolab, our chemical provider: “Choose to
Reuse” aims to collect discarded linen from our operations in the UAE and donate it to Dar el Ber Society benefiting refugees and people in need. The collection is also sustainable as the Ecolab
territory manager collects the linen while performing their
regular servicing in order to minimise the carbon footprint.
The first collection was 125 kgs of linen collected from UAE
hotels and donated to the charitable organisation. |

We realise the potential environmental impacts of our materials footprint and have deployed initiatives to measure, monitor and optimise consumption.
We are continuously working to improve our sustainable purchasing by buying more sustainable materials for our hotels and integrating sustainability criteria into our purchasing procedures, mainly for signing corporate agreements. We work with various suppliers to source raw materials and products to support our operations. We seek to buy at competitive rates but not at the expense of labour standards or the environment.
We have developed a purchasing management programme to guide each department on sourcing products that are more sustainable in their manufacture, use and disposal. We constantly review certain products and services and identify the availability of sustainable alternatives.
Our relationships with our suppliers are based on fairness, transparency, and integrity. We expect suppliers to uphold the same values and commitments that we have made concerning human and environmental impacts and to manage their approach to sustainability effectively.
